Nathan Cook
Site Foreman
Hey!
My name is Nathan Cook, I am a drywall finishing Foreman with Wescor. This is my 15th year taping with Wescor, and I’ve been lucky enough to have spent my entire career with Wescor. Prior to that I worked in the restaurant industry, but the evenings and weekends were wearing on me. In 2006 I made the decision to get into construction for a number of reasons. Job stability and a Monday to Friday work week were high on my list. I started out as a labourer with no job site experience and after a couple months of packing drywall, cleaning up scrap and fire taping; I realized that taping might just be the job for me. I mean, who doesn’t like playing with mud!
Throughout my apprenticeship I had the opportunity to work with many quality journeymen who took the time, and had the patience to train me. I learned very early on that taping has many approaches, and to never let yourself believe that your way is the only way. Approaching it like that allows me to keep things fresh and not let the monotony of the job take over.
Over the last 5 years I’ve been the taping foreman on many of Wescor’s largest jobs. Those jobs have presented me with many challenges, but have also been a great learning experience. A core belief I have is to lead by example. Trusting your finishers in all facets is what a good foreman needs to do. Clear communication and a positive attitude go a long way to running a successful crew.
In my free time I enjoy playing golf, preferably once a week. I don’t enjoy extreme sports but after hitting a great shot, for that brief moment, I am the ball soaring through the air! I’m a happily married man to my wife Helena and our 2 feisty puppies, Paco and Jackson. Yes, they are named after the characters from the classic Van Damme movie Bloodsport! A big thanks to the Wescor family, cheers to many more great years to come!
